What is Bicycle Day?
On April 16th, 1943, Dr. Albert Hofmann discovered the psychedelic effects of LSD through accidental exposure in his lab. Three days later, on April 19, 1943, he intentionally ingested 250mcg of LSD, making it the first intentional ingestion of LSD in human history. He and his lab assistant traveled home on bike through the streets of Switzerland as they experienced the effects at their peak. Hoffman called LSD the "medicine for the soul". He understood its potential for healing and investigating human consciousness. We celebrate Dr. Hofmann and that infamous bicycle ride today on what is now known as "Bicycle Day!"
